Big sister

Just counting down to September 3rd...Which makes the title of this old post http://maliyarose.blogspot.com/2005/09/no-maliya-is-not-expecting-lil-brother_07.html rather false.

Maliya is as cute as ever...eating 'bubba gums', flipping out if she sees butter (which she calls cream) on her food, and acting very scared if the hears thunder.

She loves choo-choo trains and fireworks, and her favorites songs are "Move it, Move it" from the movie Madagascar and her "Freakin-that's-a-bad-word" song (Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground by The White Stripes)

Other highlights:

- With all the talk of the baby coming soon, Maliya seems to think that she'll be a baby again too.
- Maliya is scared of the Bumble from the Rudolph cartoon, and talks about him endlessly.
- She knows most of the major restaurants and stores on our commute to work, including Hibdon's tire store for some reason.

more to come...

Massive Update.

Ok. It's May.

Maliya is still adorable.

Here's a random sampling of her current cuteness:

(1) Maliya does not say "Ok" or "Already". She instead says "Oh-KAY!" and "O-rett-AY!"

This may not sound interesting, but imagine the "ay" in each of those words shouted at the top of Maliya's lungs, reaching an ear-splitting note that can only be described as "impressive". A breath is taken between each syllable, to ensure that the "AY" is loud enough. It's really quite something.

(2) Maliya LOVES Cinderella (A.K.A. Cinderelly). She wants to watch it every day, as many times as you'll let her. She also sing the "Sing sweet nightingale" song in the most adorable fashion. "Seng suhweet niten-dale. Seng suhweet niten-dale. (long pause) MWHiiiIIIIIIII a-buh-meh!"

She likes Jaq-Jaq and Gus-Gus, and also "Roo-sa-bee".

"Station" and "Muhzivva" are mean. They tear Cinderelly's dress. Maliya will sometimes re-enact this scence with no provocation.

(3) She can recognize 24 out of the 26 letter of the alphabet, and recognize her own name when written out.

(4) The "Googa Bird". In a Chicken Little storybook we bought her, the is a picture of a bird wearing a hat. The picture is at an odd angle, with the bird looking up, so all you see is the top of the hat, and the bird's beak behind it. Maliya is obsessed with this image. She can't figure it out.

She decided that this is the Googa Bird.

She will now draw this Googa Bird at any opportunity. "There's him's beak, there's him's sharps, there him legs." She will also draw people in this manner. "There's him's eyes...etc." Often she draws them upside down.

(5) Bew-bews. Maliya has many Bew-Bews, and is very concerned about them.

(6) She is learning to ride her tricycle. She's a big girl.

There is much, much more...but that's all I can think of for now.

I don't want it, I'm a boy!

In response to "Are you a princess?"

She's great! She sure is being a big girl in her new big girl room at school! She's really growing up. She even rode her trike the other day. I told her the other day that mommy has a baby the size of a strawberry in my tummy. She said, "Malaya srrawberry atummy TOO!"

Bottoms

Maliya just can't say enough about bottoms lately. She was very concerned about her new cousin's owwie bottom and went on and on about it instead of giving in to the sweet release of sleep I so desperately need myself these days. Anyway, the other morning when I got out of the shower, she said, "Oh, momma, ehbohttomsooo biiiig!" Great.

Let me just go on record to say that my lack of posts in the last two months does in no way negate her absolute and utter perfect cuteness n smarts!!!
